LABEX CARMIN

CIRM is one of four partners of ‘CARMIN‘ (Centre d’Accueil et de Rencontres Mathématiques INternationales), an initiative which is one of the many projects of the Investissements d’Avenir programme launched by the French Government to support Higher Education and Research. It is known as a LaBex (Research Department of Excellence) and its particularity is that it does not focus on one scientific department or on one region in particular, but on infrastructure used to support mathematics.

CARMIN has several objectives, but its main goal is to strengthen the place of the four French centres: CIRM (Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques), CIMPA (Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées), IHES (Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques) and IHP (Institut Henri Poincaré) through closer collaborations and through the development of a high quality national infrastructure comparable to the offer abroad.

Every year, CIRM and these other centres collaborate on several initiatives. Two main areas in particular have benefited from this joint collaboration at CIRM, i.e ‘Events’ and the Audiovisual Mathematics Library.
