Launched in 2013 at CIRM with Aix-Marseille University, CNRS, the Société Mathématique de France and the City of Marseille, the Jean Morlet Chair celebrated its tenth anniversary in November 2023.

Exhibition: Tribute to Maryam Mirzakhani
tribute to Maryam Mirzakhani: exhibition at CIRM
CIRM presents an exhibition in tribute to Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani, the first woman to win the Fields Medal in 2014, who passed away in 2017. This major 36-panel exhibition is divided into 3 sections:
One part of the « Remember Maryam MIRZAKHANI » exhibition is created by the International Mathematical Union ‘s Committee for Women in Mathematics (CWM) – Creator: Thais Jordao and Designer Rafael Meireles Barroso.
Another part is entirely created by CIRM under the scientific direction of Anton Zorich « Mathematical Worlds of Maryam MIRZAKHANI.
A third part created by CIRM under the scientific direction of Jayadev Athreya « Space of Shapes ».
They can be seen outside, on the footbridge, in the library and in the Café des calanques.
An artwork for CIRM by Alison Martin
Alison Martin is an artist, designer and bamboo builder. She was invited to CIRM by Jayadev Athreya (Jean-Morlet 2023 Chair with Nicolas Bédaride), for a residency at CIRM to build a work for the Chair’s 10th anniversary and to take part in a day of dissemination for high schools. www.instagram.com/alisonmartin57
