The first edition of the Cicadas week took place between October 28 and November 1, 2019. Twelve high school girls volunteered to come and discover mathematics research at CIRM! They came from the high schools of Pertuis, Talence, Tarascon sur Ariège, Nîmes, Martigues and Gardanne. They worked on open problems, supervised by researchers in mathematics and computer science. They attended lectures and exchanged views on the careers of women in mathematics with researchers – Magali Ochs, Cécile Capponi, Elisabeth Remy, Laurence Halpern and Manon Philibert. In the afternoons, the girls practiced different sports: rock climbing, basketball, rugby and cardio-boxing. The evenings were dedicated to games, movies, and a boom.
Finally, 25 bouillabaisses were consumed at the end of the camp dinner!
