INSTITUT ARCHIMEDE

CIRM is one of the partners of ‘ARCHIMEDE’, an initiative which is one of the many projects of the Investissements d’Avenir programme launched by the French Government to support Higher Education and Research.

This previous « Labex » (Laboratory of Excellence) and now « Institute » combines CNRS-University research departments based in the Marseille area: CPT, UMR 7332 (Centre de Physique Théorique), I2M, UMR 7373 (Institut de Mathématiques de Marseille) and LIS, UMR 7020 (Laboratoire d’Informatique et Systèmes) and a conference centre, CIRM (Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques). Together, these departments employ leading scientists from all over the world, and cover all fields of research in mathematics and computer sciences at Aix-Marseille University (AMU).

The goals of ARCHIMEDE are:

  • to strengthen inter-research units and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • to increase international exchanges
  • to develop skill transmission and technological transfer
  • to improve the relationship between research and teaching within the university.

Every year, ARCHIMEDE selects events that have been approved for CIRM’s upcoming calendar to grant them additional funding. It is also a regular sponsor in the Jean-Morlet Chair and, as such, is consulted during the selection phase of each semester.
