Conferences are the main activity at CIRM. Lasting 5 days, their aim is to give researchers in mathematical sciences the opportunity to present recent research results and to initiate future collaborative research projects.
CIRM's international Scientific Committee studies proposals to host and subsidize large conferences at the centre. The selection criteria are that a conference should have high scientific merit and be at the forefront of current developments. Interdisciplinarity is also important and conferences should have the highest quality leadership and attract international participation.
CIRM favours teams of organizers which are international, gender-balanced and with diverse experience.
Conferences take time to plan and organize. This is why proposals need to be sent 18-24 months before a conference is due to take place. Calls for applications are published twice a year by CIRM with deadlines around the end of March and September.
